about

OUR RAINWEAR

Rainford Apparel create rainwear crafted from the same traditional tailoring techniques raincoat-makers have applied since the early 19th century, when the development of the rubber bonded cotton cloth was first introduced into the UK textile market place, and called for such tailoring techniques to be put in place to ensure the cloth, once cut, and made into a raincoat, remains waterproof.

At Rainford Apparel our raincoats are individually cut and handmade for each order. Stitched seams are coated by hand with a natural rubber glue solution, then covered and secured with a fine rubber coated cotton tape. Seams are rolled and the excess glue is cleaned using the classic raincoat making tools; the Roller, and the Cleaner wheel.

All our raincoats are handmade and silk screen printed at our artisan workshop in Kilmarnock, Scotland.
